It was time for a new suit
I had always wanted a dinner suit and now I had the perfect occasion to wear one.
So many books of formal and dress wear, it took some time to reach a decision.
I chose the aptly named Celebration bunch from Dormeuil, a delicious dark navy herringbone with a subtle lurex sparkle. This fabric needed no competition, so I chose a very simple deep navy satin lining.
I wanted to keep it as uncomplicated as possible. A single breasted one button jacket with a scrummy double-breasted satin lapel, avoiding vents to ensure a really clean line. I based the trousers on a pair I know and love.
My tailors marked up and cut the cloth to incorporate all the styling details and my square shoulders!
I was so excited when the fitting arrived a few weeks later. My fully canvassed jacket allowed super shaping and fit. After a few tweaks it was back off to Leeds to be finished off.
The Bespoke Tailors Benevolent Association festival dinner was imminent, and I was over the moon to receive my suit in plenty of time for any small adjustments.
It was absolutely fabulous, and I felt like a million dollars!
